KAT POWELL
Kat is a native of Portland, Oregon. Her design story began in 1998 in the Los Angeles area, where she studied Interior Design at Santa Monica College. She then landed two exceptional interior design positions, first with Ericka Brunson Design Associates and then with Amy Devault Interior Design. With Amy, they were regular participants of the prestigious Pasadena Showcase House, a yearly design event and home tour benefitting local charities.
In 2006, Kat had a calling back to her home roots and returned to Portland. A little different from her work as an interior designer in LA design, Kat continued her work in the interior design industry from the vendor's perspective. Her positions include work at the Sherwin Williams store in Cedar Mill, where she launched their In-Home Paint Color Consultation program. Later as Manager for Area Floors, a local wholesale materials dealer was featuring multiple lines of tile, flooring, and custom countertops. Now at CK Hoffman Design, Kat is happy to have returned to her original role, and first love, as an Interior Designer and Project Manager. AND, as of July 2021 Kat is now a Partner with CK Hoffman Design!

CARYL HOFFMAN
Caryl brings enthusiasm, expertise, and in-depth knowledge of construction to her work. Her superpower is working with people, including our clients, associates, vendors, and subcontractors. Her goal is to make sure all of her projects come out beautifully, on time, and on budget and that the experience for all parties involved has been positive.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design from UCLA and studied Art and Art History at Studio Art Centers International (SACI) in Florence, Italy. After graduating from college, Caryl worked for both residential and commercial interior design firms in L.A., including – ISD (Interior Space Design) and Douglas Barnard Inc., both nationally recognized firms. Clients included John Davis, President of 20th Century Fox, Actor Sylvester Stallone, Entrepreneur, Ted Turner, and Bob Fitzpatrick, President of Disney Paris. It was a wonderful experience and a heady time for a young designer, helping her refine her design skills and learning the intricacies of running complex construction projects.
After marrying, Caryl and her husband moved from Los Angeles to Portland in search of a more affordable, more livable lifestyle. In Portland, Caryl started her own business and has been privileged to design, build and remodel for over 30 years. Caryl is honored to have been voted Best of Houzz for the last ten years, since 2013!
