30 Days Of Gratitude, Comfort, Color, And Inspiration
Welcome June! As the world begins to open up again, we are cautiously venturing out to begin our lives anew. We are excited to see friends, co-workers, and our favorite baristas. What will the new normal be? Our focus will be both inward and outward in our attempt to re-enter the world. We will be flooded with a variety of emotions from elation and joy to grief and humbleness.
WIth all of this swimming through my head, I decided to make those emotions the backdrop for this article and the month of June’s social media postings, I’ve put together a collection of 30 inspirational words, colors and, you guessed it, Curated Home images to cheer, connect and nourish us each day. Just like last month’s theme of Create Your Own Curated Home (#CYOCH), I have put together a calendar of the words and colors so that you can follow along.
All 30 colors are pastels in some shade of yellow, blue, pink, peach or green, and each color is coordinated to a Sherwin Williams paint color. I chose these colors because they are fresh, soothing, calming and energizing – just what I need, and most likely what you need, as well, during this weird and usual time. You may or may not know that colors stimulate philological/psychological effects in our brains, central nervous system and in our bodies. For some color/psychology background – here are some of the effects/traits of these colors:
Pinks – A mix of red a white, pink is a softer version of what red inspires which is associated with energy and excitement. Seeing red stimulates breathing and increases your heart rate. Pink is typically associated with sweetness, tenderness, romance, and charm. It is also the color of universal love.
Blues – Blue is the color of dependability, security, and wisdom. Seeing blue increases the chemical serotonin in your brain which calms the central nervous system. It is a very relaxing color. It is also often associated with water which soothes and heals…think about sinking into a nice hot bath – ahhhhh….
Greens – Green is the color of growth, health, and money! It is associated with the feelings of confidence, stability, and harmony. It is a good “grounding” color associated with the earth and new growth. Think fresh soil, new leaves, and clean air.
Yellows – Yellow is the color of optimism, laughter, and happiness! Yellow energizes you, brightens your mood and even stimulates your metabolism. How fabulous is that? Bring on the sunshine!
Peaches – A mix of yellow, red, and white making this a special color with a triple dose of good features. Peach is an especially important color in Asian culture, representing love, youth, and immortality. The peach flower is a symbol of spring, feminine charm, and softness.
This is just a basic primer, there are many more great qualities and healing aspects that these colors can provide. It is interesting to note that they aren’t “just pretty colors,” there’s more to them that meets the eye.
